Get A Device
Our Process
1. Fill out our Device Inquiry Form. This form provides us initial information and context for our makers and support team.
2. Representatives from our non-profit board will follow up with additional information 3-5 business days after the request was sent.
3. The information is used to scale and design devices through CAD Software to fit your exact functional and aesthetic requirements.
4. The design files are then uploaded to 3D printers to create parts for devices.
5. The devices are then assembled and tested for maximum comfort and functionality.
6. After our devices pass thorough quality validation, we ship devices directly to you for free!
Types of Devices
Wrist-Actuated
These devices are for individuals who have an intact wrist with a full or partial palm and/or fingers. They are powered by strings running from the fingers to the wrist so as the user bends their wrist the fingers close.
Elbow-Actuated
These devices are for individuals who have an intact elbow and partial forearm. They are powered by strings running from the fingers to the elbow so as the user bends their elbow, the wrist bends and the fingers close.
Function-Forward Devices
These are assistive devices designed to perform a specific function. These tasks can be anything from playing a sport to playing an instrument. If there is a certain task you would like your device to perform, please let us know and we will do our best to make it happen!
Creative Elements
Our devices are made for you or your child in mind! The Helping Hand Project is always experimenting with new design elements to make something you enjoy wearing. If you have any ideas for how you would like your device to look, please include them on the form!
What we need from you
We specialize in manufacturing upper limb devices and as each individual's hand anatomy varies, we kindly request your patience, as your child may not be able to use a standard design. However, in such cases, we are committed to crafting a custom device tailored to your child's unique anatomy.
